Mandy Themm, lecturer of education: Conducted literacy training for 50 principals in Punta Gorda, Belize, on Jan. 3-14. Started a feeding program at a village school and added books to a library in the Conejo Village in Belize.
Dr. Amanie Abdelmessih, professor of mechanical engineering: Track co-organizer for the heat transfer & thermal engineering track at the 2022 International Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition (IMECE) in Columbus, Ohio, on Oct. 30-Nov. 3. Numerical Methods for Heat Transfer Computations of Curved Surfaces using Excel Techniques: Refereed article published at IMECE. Track co-organizer for track 1 at the 2022 InterPACK in Garden Grove, California, on Oct. 25-27.
Students from Lancer Media Group traveled to a local Teen Challenge location and spent time photographing and talking with men at the residential treatment center on Jan. 10. The students went as part of Help-Portrait, a global movement of photographers, hairstylists and makeup artists using their time, tools and expertise to give back to those in need. Student photographers provided free portraits for each of the men.
