Excellent rank for the dazed starling

The Spring 2025 edition of The Dazed Starling, CBU’s literary journal, received the Sigma Tau Delta Outstanding Literary Arts Journal Award. The edition was also ranked “Excellent” in the National Council of Teachers of English REALM awards.

Frank Garcia, assistant director of video production in Marketing and Communication, was named employee of the month for February. His nomination included the following statements: “Frank exemplifies outstanding service — not only to external partners but also to his teammates. … Frank’s positivity and encouragement are a driving force in maintaining a healthy and productive team culture. Through his efficiency, creativity and attention to detail, Frank has delivered exceptional results while managing multiple initiatives simultaneously. Stevo Evans, assistant professor of commercial music, served as program director for Coco Jones’ Tiny Desk Concert, which aired Jan. 9 on NPR. Additionally, Mariah Maxwell, adjunct professor of music, served as a background vocalist, and Liz Mueller, adjunct professor of music, was an assistant to the musical director.

Stevo Evans, assistant professor of commercial music, took students to experience a professional Hollywood industry rehearsal on Jan. 15. They visited and learned from a band rehearsal for Coco Jones.

MS Sport and Performance Psychology Race Team

The MS Sport and Performance Psychology Race Team participated in the Citrus Heritage Run on Jan. 10.  They ran in the 5K, 10K and half marathon. The team consisted of Dr. Kristin Mauldin, associate professor of sport and performance psychology, Lucas McDougall, Neal Blank, Robbie Blackwood, Joseph Anguiano, Santiago Vigil, Gianni Smith, Ellie Hardey, Krissy Kuwahara, Sophia Romero, Anna McLaughlin, Alyssa Anderson, Emma Tyler, Wanda Fernandez, Tea Akiaten, Heather Humes and Emilia Mikszuta.

Spring Career & Internship Fair – Feb. 19 | 1:00–3:30 PM | Van Dyne Gym

The Career Center will host a career fair in February and invites faculty and staff to share this opportunity with students seeking internships, full-time or summer employment. The event is open to all majors and offers students opportunities to connect with employers, explore career pathways and practice professional networking. Approximately 50 employers are expected to attend.
