Grants
Dr. Juliann Perdue, professor of nursing, has been awarded the Song Brown Program grant by the Department of Health Care Access (HCAI) for $900,000, marking the second year of funding. This year, the maximum award amount was received. The primary goal of this program is to educate registered nurses to serve in underserved communities. The College of Nursing will continue to utilize this funding to sustain the operation of the mobile health clinic.

Making an Impact
Dr. Joshua Knabb, professor of psychology, co-authored and co-recorded an eight-session video series on marriage for Sandals Church. The video series, Marriage Essentials, includes teaching and interactive exercises and combines research with biblical truths to help Christian couples cultivate passion, commitment and intimacy with God and their spouse.
Campus News
Students in the communication sciences and disorders program participated in the NSA (National Stuttering Association) Family Fun Day held at CBU on March 2. Undergraduate students Hannah Cooper, Margaret “Maggie” Aguilar, Alicia Stanton, Maya Muendler and Colleen Mullane helped lead games and hands-on activities. Graduate student Maria Gonzalez assisted in leading the teen breakout session and providing interpretation in Spanish for families. More than 60 people attended the event.
Student Highlights
CBU photography students Austin Elliott and Josiah Grant were selected for the American Photography 40 winning collection. From over 7,000 entries, the jury selected 317 images to appear in the book. Additionally, images by CBU students Grant, Juliette Doan, Crystal Lewis and Kayla Yogi were among the 230 images chosen to appear online.
Photography sophomore Juliette Doan was selected as one of the 25 to win the Getty’s Unshuttered open call. Getty received more than 2,800 submissions from teenagers throughout California. Doan’s entry was called Nighttime Grocery.
Personal Milestones
Dr. Riste Simnjanovski, professor of public administration, and his wife, Lauren Gutenberg, welcomed a daughter on March 12. Emmy Louise Simnjanovski weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces and measured 19 inches. She joins Uriah, 4, and Elle, 3.
