Davenport Award for Exceptional Achievement in Public Relations and Development, A CBU Christmas 2025; Communications/Marketing Strategy: 1st place - Summer Camps; PR for Special Event: 1st place - A CBU Christmas 2025; Design Elements Logo New: 2nd place - 75th Anniversary Logo; Social Media Campaign or Event: 1st place - Star Wars; Social Media Single Post: 2nd place - Easter; Video Storytelling Less Than 1 Minute: 1st place - 75th Anniversary Video; Video Event More than 3 Minutes: 2nd place - 30th Anniversary; Design Print Publications Magazine - Single Issue: 1st place - Roundtable Fall 2025; Overall Publication Print - Magazine: 2nd place - Roundtable Fall 2025. M&C also was recognized on April 18 as Best University as voted by Inland Empire Magazine readers.

Sonya Singh, instructor of journalism, earned an award at the Baptist Communicator’s Association Wilmer C. Fields Awards on April 14: Baptist Press 2025 Annual Meeting Photo Coverage: 2nd place. She shares the award with Jim Veneman, former CBU photojournalism professor and longtime photo editor for the Baptist Press.

CBU continues to be blessed with generous donors – alumni, parents, friends, foundations, faculty, staff and others. University Advancement is pleased to announce the following gifts and gift commitments from generous friends of Lancer Nation given during March 2026.

  • $150,000 gift commitment to an existing School of Performing Arts endowed scholarship
  • $64,000 gift commitment to Dr. Robert K. Jabs School of Business
  • $50,000 gift commitment to NIL – men’s basketball
  • Two $50,000 gift commitments – fund designations to be determined at a later date
  • $30,000 gift to an existing endowed scholarship in the School of Christian Ministries
  • $25,000 gift to an existing endowed scholarship in the Collinsworth School of Performing Arts
  • $25,000 gift to an existing endowed fund for an Engineering Cardiac Team

Jonathan Nyquist

Jonathan Nyquist, video production specialist, published a website he built called Global Fieldnotes on April 13. Having grown up overseas, Nyquist built the website for fieldworkers to share their experiences abroad. The website allows visitors to find stories from across the globe, browse stories according to decade and submit one of their own.

Adam Marquardt, Penelope Perez and Breanna Roelling from the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences presented research posters at the Pacific Sociological Association in Long Beach on April 3. They were mentored by Dr. Sophie S. Mun, associate professor of behavioral sciences.

CBU Bridge Teams

CBU’s Land Surveying and Steel Bridge teams

CBU’s Land Surveying Team won second place overall, and the Steel Bridge Team won second place at the American Society of Civil Engineers Pacific Southwest Student Symposium at California State University, Los Angeles on March 27-30.
