Academics: Fall 2022 FAQs
- How will classes be offered?
For traditional undergraduate and traditional graduate students, the majority of courses will be offered on campus and in person. However, some courses may be offered in a hybrid or fully asynchronous format.
- When will classes begin and end in the fall semester?
As reflected in the 2022-23 Academic Calendar, classes for traditional undergraduate students and traditional graduate students on a full semester calendar will begin Tuesday, September 6, and will end on Thursday, December 13. The Thanksgiving holiday for these students will be November 21-25.
Classes offered within fully online programs and all 8-week courses will begin on Monday, September 5, and will end on Friday, December 23.
- Will I receive excused absences if I need to isolate due to a positive COVID test
result?
Students who are in isolation due to COVID-19 illness should contact Student Care (studentcare@calbaptist.edu or 951.552.8100) for support.
- Student Care will confidentially notify faculty of the student’s absence from class for their designated isolation time period.
- Students will be responsible for communicating with their professors regarding the submission of coursework.
- What should I do if I have tested positive for COVID-19?
- Notify Student Care immediately (studentcare@calbaptist.edu or 951-552-8100).
- Do not attend class.
- Isolate for 5 days.
- Residential students who meet the criteria for isolation shall be required to isolate themselves at home if their home city is less than 300 miles from CBU. Isolation rules apply by city only, not physical address or zip code. For example, if a student resides in Fresno (included within the 300-mile radius) but their home address is located beyond the 300-mile radius, the isolation rule still applies. See a radius map here.
- Residential students who live outside the 300-mile radius will be assigned an isolation housing unit.
- Residential students are expected to inform their roommates of their test result.
- While isolated, positive students must stay a safe distance (6 feet) from others.
- Students who test positive are restricted from the following:
-
- Going to any indoor location on campus other than their assigned housing isolation unit.
- Participating in any CBU sponsored event, including, but not limited to:
- Class attendance (in person)
- Chapel (in person)
- All extracurricular activities (intramurals, athletic events, on and off campus events, etc.
- Communicate with professors regarding the submission of coursework.
- Isolation can end after day 5 if there is no lingering fever or severe symptoms, and Student Care has provided approval to end isolation..
- If fever or severe symptoms are present, isolation should be continued until both fever and severe symptoms subside.
Note: Student athletes are also subject to CBU Athletic Department and Western Athletic Conference (WAC) protocols.

- How will chapel be delivered?
Chapel will resume in-person activities for the fall 2022 semester. As has been available in the past, students with a class conflict can participate in the alternative chapel program.
