    Before accepting the Dean’s position, Dr. Bonner served as Associate Dean of the School of Music at CBU and was responsible for maintaining accreditation with the National Association of Schools of Music, assembling and coordinating seven small traveling musical ensembles every year, coordinating adjunct instructor employment and schedule, and teaching conducting. In addition to the Male Chorale, he has conducted the 300-member Choral Union and Orchestra in such classical works as Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Creation, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Durufle’s Requiem, Vaughan Williams’ Hodie, and Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast.

    He earned the Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting degree from Claremont Graduate University. His dissertation study was titled Non-verbal Communication and the Choral Conductor and focused on body movements and facial expressions to achieve maximum musical production from the musicians.

    Former Member/Section Leader of the Gary Bonner Singers.

    Dr. Bonner has traveled with small musical ensembles to Japan and to China. He is regularly requested to adjudicate choral festivals and musical competitions as well as serving as a choral clinician for performing groups and music conferences such as Music Quest, Music California, and the CBU Invitational Choral Festival.
