Professor Mark Kim received his B.S. in Computer Science from the United States Naval Academy in 1995 and his M.S. in Information Systems and Technology
from Claremont Graduate University in 2018. Professor Kim joined the College of Engineering at California Baptist University as an Assistant Professor in fall of 2019.
Upon graduation from the Naval Academy, Mr. Kim was commissioned as an officer and served ten years in a variety of positions with responsibilities including managing classified information systems for the Department of Defense.
After his military service, Mr. Kim worked in financial technology at Societe Generale, a leading global investment bank. He led the implementation project of the bank’s first algorithmic trading platform in the South Korea office. He was responsible for managing all algorithmic trading of equities in Korea on behalf of institutional clients.
Assistant Professor Kim’s research interests are in the fields of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Human Computer Interaction (HCI). He and his wife, Soojin, enjoy raising their daughter and spending time together outdoors. His life mission is to serve God by impacting the lives of students and his church community through servant-leadership.
