Counseling Center
Our Mission and Purpose
The mission of the California Baptist University Counseling Center is to provide Christ-centered, Biblically-based, psychologically sound therapy to allow the CBU community to be free to live their purpose and have a godly impact in the world.
In our efforts to best serve our CBU community, we offer free, anonymous screenings online; provide individual, couples and family therapy; are involved in various campus outreach activities throughout the year; and have a variety of helpful resources available on our website.
Hope, Healing, Truth, and Grace
These four pillars are the foundation of why we exist as a counseling center. We believe hope in God is essential to our healing because He is the one who truly transforms lives. We believe in the absolute truth of God's Word and the need to be truthful with God, ourselves, and others, which sets us free to be healed. We believe broken people need the grace of God and others, which creates an environment in which to heal.
Hope: "And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is in You." Psalm 39:7
Healing: "The Spirit of the Lord God has taken control of me! The Lord has chosen and sent me to tell the oppressed the good news, to heal the brokenhearted, and to announce freedom for prisoners and captives." Isaiah 61:1
Truth: "...and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:32
Grace: God's law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God's wonderful grace became more abundant. Romans 5:20
