Why should I come to Lancer Day?
- Connect with 250 other future lancers
- Attend 4 breakout sessions: career preparation, social life, spiritual life opportunities, support in your first year
- Chapel in the 5,000 seat Events Center
- Financial Aid appointments
- Walk the red carpet at the Choose CBU party where you can commit to CBU!
At CBU, our desire is that you learn to master new information, gain valuable skills, and develop deep convictions that will change your life. We hope that you build lasting friendships and lifelong connections with faculty, staff and peers. For many of you, these next four years will be the most impactful of your life. At Lancer Day, a preview event for accepted students, you will see how CBU helps you do each of these things.
Throughout the event we hope you meet other students who have been accepted and envision yourself learning as you hear directly from the professors in your major. You will also get to choose from different sessions based on your specific interest, whether it's career goals or social involvement, so you can see what your future will look like at CBU. Meet fellow students, connect with offices and hear about the opportunities and events that can help you make the most of your time as a Lancer. How will you live your purpose?
Lancer Day begins at 7:30am and officially concludes by 2:30pm. Additional afternoon options will also be available until 4:00pm.
A sample of the full event schedule can be viewed here.
All accepted students who register for Lancer Day will be given access to customize their schedule in the "Life @ CBU" app.
This session will be presented by the Career Center about all your opportunities to prepare for your future career. Key topics that will be discussed include what employers are looking for in grads, how the career center prepares current students for the job market, and what steps you should be taking each year to set yourself up for success.
This session will be presented by the Community Life office about all your social opportunities for students to connect and form friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. Community Life is about enhancing your college experience through purposeful activities—like coffeehouse concerts and Midnight Madness, to intramural sports, clubs and Outdoor Adventure trips.
This session will be presented by Spiritual Life about all your opportunities to grow spiritually while at CBU. Major topics that will be discussed include an in-depth look at programs CBU students can get involved with no matter what stage of your journey you are in, as well as the number one way to discover or grow deeper roots in your faith.
Nervous about your first year in college? You're not alone. Come hear from a group of students who will share about their experience at CBU. Ask questions, and learn about the many ways CBU supports students as they begin their college journey. At the end, you will hear about the First Year Experience, an intentionally designed class and program to help students succeed during this time.
Live to Learn
This session will be presented by the dean or a program director of each academic school or college. Based on your major of interest, you decide which session to attend. You’ll learn about all programs, how to be a successful student, and even how other current or former Lancers are living their purpose.
Choose CBU Party
We’ll be honest. This is the part of the event that we are most excited about! Chow down on some great food and delicious desserts! You'll also have an opportunity to connect with other future lancers, receive your acceptance gift, take a campus tour, and check out freshmen living areas. For those that are ready to commit to CBU, we're rolling out the red carpet! Let us come alongside of you to celebrate this exciting decision and help you register for a New Student Orientation date this summer. Get ready to Lance Up!
Financial Aid and Admissions Counselor Appointments
Throughout various parts of the day, there will be chances to talk with someone regarding financial aid or other general questions. We hope that Lancer Day is a day that you can find out everything you need to know in order to make a decision about CBU.
