There are many starting points that you will experience in your lifetime that are significant and memorable.  And then there's becoming a CBU Lancer.  You will embark on that Journey at Welcome Weekend where you will get a taste for the rich traditions and warm community that you will experience for years to come.  Connect with other students at our social events, connect with God as we discover more about Him, and connect with the campus - your new home.  Lance Up Class of 2020!

Who Should Attend Welcome Weekend?

All new students are expected to attend the events of Welcome Weekend.  We have planned everything to help students as they transition to being a student at CBU.  This includes all incoming Freshman and Transfer students.

Welcome Weekend Schedule - September 2-4, 2016*

Friday, September 2

8:00am – 6:30pm Extended Office & Campus Store Hours
9:00am – 4:00pm Welcome Weekend Check-In (Van Dyne Gym)

  • Commuters: Check-in at 1:00pm
  • Residents: Check-in first. You will be given further instructions for living area move-in during the check-in process

11:30am – 1:30pm Lunch – All Campus Dining Locations Open (Parents/Guests - available for purchase)
Noon – 3:00pm Academic Open House (Innovators Auditorium)
1:00pm – 4:00pm Commuter Welcome Weekend Check-In (Van Dyne Gym)
4:30pm – 6:00pm Welcome Picnic (Front Lawn West)
6:00pm Students meet at the Tent to prepare for Kugel Walk (students only)
6:30pm President's Welcome (Parents and Family) at the Front Lawn Bleachers

Things to do Before Welcome Weekend

Attend New Student Orientation

If you registered via Virtual Orientation or are a student that has not yet attended an in-person New Student Orientation you will need to attend the final New Student Orientation on Friday September 1st, the day before Welcome Weekend. For a schedule of the September 1st New Student Orientation please go to www.calbaptist.edu/orientation

Frequently Asked Questions

Should Parents & Guests come?
Most of the morning and afternoon of September 2 will consist of Residential students moving in to their living areas.  The only events for parents & guests will take place on the evening of September 2.

When do classes begin for the Fall Semester?
The first day of classes is Tuesday, September 6.  The events of Welcome Weekend will end on Sunday, September 4.  This gives you a day to rest and prepare for your first day in the classroom.

Will I be able to handle business with offices at the university?
Yes!  There will be time to go to the different offices during Welcome Weekend.  We encourage you to contact the offices beforehand if possible, to ensure a smooth transition to school in the Fall.  Here are a few offices you can contact if you have questions:
