Student Life

What’s it like at CBU?

As a student at CBU, you’ll find that friendships come easy and most people are up for a spontaneous adventure and a deep meaning-of-life conversation—sometimes in the same night. Of course, adjusting to college has its challenges, but CBU is here to ensure your college years are some of the best of your life.

So take advantage of all we offer: Live on campus, meet classmates for coffee at Wanda’s, join a Bible study, form an intramural team or travel abroad.

Make your CBU experience your own.

Live On Campus

Your CBU dorm (or apartment) isn't just a place to crash for a nap between classes (although we highly recommend that). It’s a place where life—and growth—happens. Your residence staff plans parties and trips to foster community. And eventually your floormates will become some of your best friends. From pulling an all-nighter to praying together, the kind of kinship you’ll find in our dorms is what sets CBU apart.

A college experience isn’t quite complete until you move on campus. Join the 40% of CBU’s undergraduate students who choose dorm life, and pack your toothbrush because you’ll feel right at home once you get here.

Eat On Campus

Breakfast burritos. Cheeseburgers. Smoothies. And of course, lots and lots of coffee.

Our food is consistently ranked as the best in California universities (according to student polls). So luckily, we have 7 restaurants on campus, in addition to our all-you-can-eat cafeteria. We designed CBU’s dining areas to encourage community and we hope meal times will be where you meet new friends, catch up with old ones or fuel up for a group study session.

And don’t worry, we offer plenty of healthy options—like salads and acai bowls—so you can try to keep off that freshman 15.

Care For Your Soul

Attend weekly chapel and be inspired by stories and relevant biblical teaching. Outside of chapel, you can join one of the many Bible studies or small groups where you’ll find other students who are on the same journey you are—desiring to discover more about God.

You can also serve the community through numerous outreach opportunities. Whatever you end up doing, you’ll be joining a legacy of CBU students who are making a tangible difference in the world.

Take Part In Campus Life

You may not know what Midnight Madness or TWIRP Week is yet, but you will. These are the signature events we love so much we repeat them every year.

CBU is surrounded by picturesque beaches, campgrounds and ski resorts. To help you make the most of living in this ideal location (and make a few new friends while you’re at it), CBU offers outdoor adventure trips several times a semester.

Are you a writer? A Mario Kart player? An advocate for social justice? There’s a club for you at CBU. If those don’t interest you, there are over 60 other clubs on campus to choose from.

Stay Fit

Amid the busyness of college life, exercise is one of the best ways to reduce stress. CBU’s Recreation Center is open until midnight four days a week, so you can get in a workout between study sessions. Its newly built facility has everything from weight lifting machines to group cycling classes. And it’s all free for students to use.

Additionally, each semester you’ll have the chance to join an intramural team. Compete for fun with some friends or get competitive and try to win the coveted Fortuna Bowl trophy. What will you play?

Take Center Stage

All CBU students are encouraged to participate in the productions that occur at Wallace Theatre throughout the year. Students work with faculty and staff on all aspects of production including set design, costumes, lighting and sound design, stage managing and even assistant directing. This creates a truly collaborative environment where students grow and flourish.

Go On An Adventure

CBU’s Riverside locale is a growing city that still maintains its historical charm. What used to be the US capital for citrus production is now a bustling metropolis.

The downtown area is home to several unique and eclectic specialty shops, one of the largest antique districts in the Inland Empire, and over 60 restaurant choices ranging from fine dining to fast food. Check out some of the favorite local places that make Riverside so great.
