Admissions Internships

No matter what your future career goals are, an internship in the Undergraduate Admissions Office at CBU will prepare you to confidently enter the workforce. This one-year internship (August 2023- April 2024) provides you with a highly sought after skill-set that will make you a competitive candidate for any role. The 2023-2024 Admissions internship application is now closed.

Once completed, applications must be submitted via email to admissions@calbaptist.edu.

Upon thorough review, the Admissions office will initiate follow-up communication with candidates regarding interviews.

1. Administrative Interns: The Administrative Interns play an important role in the daily operations of the admissions office. The position will include data processing, management of inventory, filing and mailing preparations. An Administrative Intern can expect to work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented, and goal-driven work environment while playing an integral role in the administrative needs of the office.

Duties will include:

  • Preparing acceptance boxes
  • Entering transcripts

2. Communication Interns: Communication Interns for the Admissions Office will engage directly with prospective CBU students and families by phone and share about the university and the CBU student experience. If you love talking with others about how much you love CBU, this internship is for you! The Admissions Office aims to deliver personalized content for prospective students and a high level of customer service. This position will provide experience with Salesforce (our CRM software) to create, maintain and update prospective student records. We are seeking interns who are comfortable with phone conversation, are self-motivated, active listeners and have a high level of positivity and professionalism.

Duties will include:

  • Deliver prepared call campaigns to prospective students and families in relation to the Admissions Office recruitment cycle
  • Create new student records for prospective students and keep current records up to date with correct information
  • Assist the Admissions Communication Team with inventory of marketing materials and direct mailing for prospective students

3. Event Interns: Do you tend to be that person in your circle of friends or family who always seems to plan get-togethers? Are you someone who enjoys getting into the details? Event Interns play a crucial role in the pre-planning, day-of coordination, and post-event logistics for both small and large-scale preview events. Event Interns have a unique opportunity to assist in the coordination and follow through of recruitment events geared towards all types of prospective students. From event creation down to execution, Event Interns will exemplify a high attention to detail, strong work ethic, and exceptional customer service, which creates memorable visitor experiences.

Duties will include:

  • Preparing all pre-event supplies and check-in materials
  • Building virtual event apps and web experiences using various platforms
  • Executing successful events and participating in post-event analysis

4. Recruiting Interns: Have you ever wanted to be an Admissions Counselor? The Recruiting Interns work directly with our Admissions team to assist in day-to-day responsibilities and are a vital part of our recruiting efforts in our Southern California region. Recruiting Interns present about CBU in professional settings, facilitate booths at large-scale fairs, and work to serve prospective students and families at the highest level. As a Recruiting Intern, you will gain valuable soft skills and experience that will stand out in any career, as well as providing you with the knowledge it takes to display exceptional customer service.

Duties will include:

  • Represent CBU at college fairs throughout the Southern California Territory
  • Correspond with students and families on behalf of the Admissions team
  • Assist counselors with travel preparations and various job responsibilities 

5. Social Media Interns: As a Social Media intern for Admissions, your role will be to create compelling content (photos, videos and design) to help tell the story of future CBU Lancers. In this role, you’ll play an integral part of launching the CBU Admissions social media presence on multiple platforms and creating content that shares the CBU experience with prospective students. Job responsibilities include capturing, editing and producing photos and videos to post on CBU Admissions social media platforms. You’re our ideal candidate if you love creating new content and have a knack for storytelling and a desire to learn how to combine sales and marketing in a creative way.

Duties will include:

  • Weekly strategy and content overview meetings
  • Capturing stories and content of current students, faculty and events on campus
  • Regular posting and engagement on social media platforms

6. Visit Interns: Our Visit Interns focus on people and a great guest experience while visiting CBU, keeping in mind that this experience directly relates to their college decision. Primarily Visit Interns host visiting school groups, prospective students and their families. Successful Visit Interns provide a great experience through their expansive knowledge of CBU and their passionate belief that CBU can and will change lives. Visit interns also support the University Reception desk. As the face of the University, this role requires a high level of responsibility and professionalism.

Duties will include:

  • Offering Campus Tours for prospective students, families and school groups
  • Leading and training a team of tour guides
  • Providing great customer service while assisting an active Front Desk
  • Participate in the mission of the Admissions office overall, gaining excellent experience as part of the Admissions Team
