Biography
My name is Bhushan Patel, and I am originally from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. I completed my Master’s degree in Software Engineering at California Baptist University and graduated in May 2020 as an international student. After graduation, I worked on OPT at TCS North America as a Software Engineer, where I gained valuable industry experience. Currently, I am working at Parallon Inc (HCA Hospitals), as a Manager – Strategic Workflow Developer, focusing on optimizing processes by using RPA.
Why CBU?
I learned about California Baptist University through past international alumni as well as through CBU representatives who visited Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Several factors stood out to me, including the university’s location in California, the strong focus of the Software Engineering program and most importantly, the support provided by the International Center. These factors made CBU an ideal choice for my graduate studies.
CBU Experience
As an international student, I felt very welcomed at CBU from the beginning. The International Center was extremely supportive, helping with everything from orientation to ongoing immigration and academic guidance. The faculty and campus community were approachable and supportive, which helped me adjust quickly both academically and culturally. The main highlight for me was the Festival of Colors.

My education at CBU played a key role in preparing me for my professional journey. The curriculum emphasized practical learning, real-world projects and strong technical fundamentals. This preparation helped me secure my OPT role at TCS North America and later progress into my current role at Parallon Inc. CBU also provided helpful guidance related to career planning and OPT processes, which was especially valuable as an international student.
Practical Skills
I regularly use skills such as software development, workflow automation, problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration that I developed at CBU. Group projects and hands-on coursework helped me build strong analytical and communication skills that are essential in my current leadership role.
