Coursework access is reserved for the student only, as part of helping them step into a true college experience. However, CBU may share certain information with parents or others the student has authorized through the FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) release form. This permission simply allows CBU staff to discuss the student’s information with those individuals if they call or email with questions. Only the student can make academic decisions and complete their coursework.
To help balance high school and college coursework successfully, students may only take one course per eight-week session. All courses must be chosen from those listed on the website, as these have been selected because they fulfill general education or elective requirements at CBU.
All courses are asynchronous, with no required live log-in times. Instead, you’ll have weekly deadlines, assignments and online discussions with professors and classmates. Students can expect to spend about 15 hours per week on their coursework.
No, once you’re in, you’re in! You’ll be paired with a Student Success Coach who can assist you in registering for future sessions. Just email them when you’re ready to add another class. All courses offered through the Early University Program are chosen to meet general education or elective credit for any major offered at CBU. Students also have access to a Student Success Coach, their professor, tutoring, library resources and disability services for additional support.
CBU is a regionally accredited university, so coursework should be transferable. However, it’s up to the receiving institution to confirm transferability and equivalency. For dual credit, students should work directly with their high school to determine if their CBU course can also fulfill their graduation requirements.
The first class is free! After that, each 3-unit course is $498 total ($166 per unit). This discounted rate is only available through the Early University Program. Each session has its own application and registration deadline, which is one week before the session’s start date.
