Wallace Theatre presents The Importance of Being Earnest
The Importance of Being Earnest is a comedic play that satirizes the conventions and manners of Victorian society. Set in England in the late 19th century, the play is considered a “comedy of manners,” as the plot revolves around two young men, Jack Worthing, and Algernon Moncrieff, who adopt fictional identities to escape their social obligations. What follows is a story rife with mistaken identities, witty repartee, and amusing hijinks that all conclude in a joyful resolution for all.
