Magnolia Singers
Magnolia Singers is open by audition to all interested students. The group rehearses and performs a variety of sacred and secular choral music for soprano/alto voices and combines with other choirs to form the CBU Worship Collective. The group concertizes throughout the traditional academic year in a variety of academic and ministry settings.

Mr. Juan Castaneda
Conductor, Magnolia Singers
Juan Castaneda holds a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Portland State University and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach.
While at Portland State, Juan conducted the Rose Chorus, a 29-voice Tenor-Bass Ensemble, and the Portland State University Choir, a 65-voice SATB choir, and Portland State’s most storied ensemble and was the Assistant Conductor of the Chamber Singers. Juan was also a chorister for the Portland Opera and is a member of the American Guild of Musical Artists and the American Choral Directors Association.
In addition to his work at CBU as conductor of the Magnolia Singers, he holds an active voice studio in Southern California that features several artists with recording deals at Warner Bros, Atlantic Records, and Capitol Records. Juan frequently performs in the Southern California area as a tenor soloist and was most recently featured as the tenor soloist in Carmina Burana, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, and the Mozart Requiem.
