Camerata

 

Camerata is the flagship choral arts ensemble at California Baptist University. It is an auditioned mixed choir of the most advanced singers within the Collinsworth School of Performing Arts. CBU Camerata performs art music composed for chamber choir, highlighting historic sacred and secular repertoire, contemporary art music, and music from non-Western cultures. Additionally, CBU Camerata performs in conjunction with other choral ensembles to perform in the annual “A CBU Christmas" and extended choral works with orchestra. Participation is by audition only. Dr. Joshua Golden
Director of Choral Studies


Dr. Joshua Golden is the Director of Choral Studies at California Baptist University, where he conducts the Camerata and Chamber Singers. In addition to these ensembles, Dr. Golden directs an active MM, Choral Conducting program, and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in choral conducting and choral methods.

Prior to joining the faculty at CBU, Dr. Golden served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Choral Department at the University of Kentucky and as a choral faculty member at Lee University in Cleveland, TN. He has also served as the Director of Music and Worship for four large churches in the Tennessee and Kentucky areas in a music ministry career spanning more than sixteen years.

Dr. Golden previously served as the Artistic and Executive Director of the Chattanooga Girls Choir, the Principle Conductor of Opera Tennessee, and is the founder and Artistic Director of The Chattanooga Chamber Choir, a professional chorus based in Chattanooga, TN. He received a Bachelor of Music Education from East Tennessee State University, a Masters of Music in Choral Conducting from The University of Tennessee, and Doctorate of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from The University of Kentucky.
