Digital Commons holds the innovative projects in digital literary analysis and digital creative writing.

Who Is Behind These Projects?

The projects in the Digital Commons are created by undergraduate and graduate students in the digital literary studies, creative writing and literature courses.

The digital literary studies courses are part of the writing and digital studies undergraduate minor and the digital literary studies concentration in the M.A. in English program at California Baptist University.

The digital literary studies courses include:

  • ENG 382/583: Introduction to Digital Studies
  • ENG 584: Digital Literary Studies
  • ENG 577: Digital Creative Writing

However, in creative writing and literature courses students also create digital literary projects.

About the Projects

Digital literary studies at CBU initiated the digitization of the P. Boyd Smith Hymnology Collection, a special collection in the Annie Gabriel Library. This project has been underway since January 2019.

Each semester, undergraduate and graduate students can intern in the P. Boyd Smith Hymnology Collection, gaining experience in the library archive and gaining skills using a Bookeye 5 V3 scanner with a V cradle.

They learn about the literary history of 18th and 19th century hymnody and contribute to a developing digital, interactive archive.

Students also work on other creative and scholarly digital projects.
