Recent CBU graduate Katelyn Wong featured on Adobe Live Podcast

Recent CAVAD graduate Katelyn Wong recently had the special opportunity as a featured designer on Adobe Live, Adobe’s official podcast.

During her senior year at CBU, Katelyn worked with Adobe to design digital and print materials for Adobe’s Apprenticeship program. Her fun and spunky designs were featured on notebooks, merch, and packaging specifically for the program. Continuing her experience with Adobe, she was able to share her creative process of what inspired her designs and what inspired her.

While brainstorming for this new challenge, Katelyn began thinking about her environment and “creative flow” when she works on projects for her college courses. “Designers are storytellers who communicate visually, so I thought ‘I want to visually communicate me sitting down at my desk at school with my fun little set-up,” Katelyn shared. Her illustrations feature a cartoon version of herself working at her computer, with coffee and flowers of course.

Katelyn also shares how this project came from a tough place of burnout but ultimately re-sparked her creative flow. “My professors always remind me that it’s so fun to just create for yourself sometimes, and even though this project was for Adobe, it felt very personal to me.”

Katelyn notes how her recent internship helped her gain operational skills to supplement her designs. Her junior year internship at the Orange County creative agency The Brand Amp grew out of CAVAD’s longstanding industry connections and relationships. Companies like Adobe and The Brand Amp help give CAVAD students internship and career experience, and CAVAD helps pave the way for those opportunities.
