CAVAD Architecture Summer Academy 2026 High School students CBU

A group of enthusiastic high school students enrolled in CAVAD’s Architecture Summer Academy. The students had the fantastic opportunity to learn the fundamentals of architecture along with designing their very own buildings.

This year’s Architecture Summer Academy, hosted by CAVAD and Professor Krysten Allbeck, was a week-long adventure as students explored all that architecture entails. The group started the week off learning foundational skills of architectural sketches and scaling, then moved into creating Lego models of buildings complete with site plans. Mid-week, the students ventured to Los Angeles, where they visited the Getty museum.

At the museum, they were tasked with conceptualizing and designing a new hypothetical gallery space for the museum, while integrating principles of light, space, geometry, and material. The students spent the next two days designing and crafting their small-scale model buildings, site plans, and then share their projects in a final presentation. Friends and family members gathered on Friday to see all the projects and hard work that the students put into the week at CBU.
