The goal of the sport and performance consultant is to increase the quality of life of their client by helping them reach their performance and health goals.
Program Intro
The online MS in Sport and Performance Psychology program trains students to apply psychological strategies to help clients improve mental and emotional performance and control. This fully online program will allow students to complete their academic requirements in a very flexible manner, making it easier to also be actively engaged in their other commitments such as family and work.

The Master of Science in Sport and Performance Psychology online program will prepare students to work with others to increase their levels of performance in multiple arenas, including but not limited to sport, exercise, surgical skills, performance arts and combat. Thus, students in the program will be equipped to serve clients in a broad range of performance fields.
Gain Certification as a Mental Performance Consultant
The degree educates consultants on the psychological foundation and strategies used to increase performance and control. The program is designed to meet the academic requirements for certification as a mental performance consultant through the Association of Applied Sport Psychology.

Students become academically prepared through a variety of biblically rooted courses in psychology and kinesiology while also gaining hands-on experience through practicum placement and mentorship.

What You'll Learn
- Graduating students will have a firm understanding of the cognitive, biological, and
social processes related to performance.
- Graduating students will have knowledge of the psychological techniques and consulting
skills used to improve performance and overcome personal barriers.
- Graduating students will have the ability to work effectively with a diverse group
of clients due to their firm understanding of ethical issues pertaining to the field
and the best practices to handle these issues.
- Students will understand how to interpret, critique, and conduct research in the field
of sport, exercise, and performance psychology.
- Students will understand how to view and apply concepts in sports and performance psychology through a Christian lens.
Program Details
SPP 510: Advanced Sport and Performance Psychology
This course provides an in-depth application of psychological concepts to sports and performance. This is a hands-on course; students should expect to be involved in activities that require light to medium physical activity.
SPP 535: Psychology of Injury
This course covers a more in-depth approach to using the performance enhancement techniques and troubleshooting issues that clients may be presenting to the consultant with an injured athlete or client.
SPP 545: Increasing Performance in First Responders
This course focuses on performance issues specific to first responders. The culture of first responders, common performance barriers, and cognitive techniques best suited for this population will be examined.
