A minor in forensic chemistry provides a foundation in both chemistry and forensic science which, along with knowledge of analytical chemistry, culminates in the study to forensic chemistry. This minor can complement a major in the biological sciences for students who plan to pursue a career as a professional criminalist but will not suffice as a stand-alone preparation for most forensic science careers.
A study of inorganic chemical systems including properties of atoms, molecules and ions, composition of matter, solutions, stoichiometry, thermochemistry, gas laws, electronic structure of elements, chemical bonding and molecular geometry.
