Lancer Media Group earns multiple national awards
Riverside, Calif. (Nov. 19, 2024) – Students from Lancer Media Group at California Baptist University earned prestigious accolades from multiple collegiate media organizations this fall, highlighting their talent and dedication.
The students received honors from the Baptist Communicators Association, the College Media Association and the Associated Collegiate Press.
"We are thrilled to celebrate our students' incredible creativity, dedication, and outstanding achievements. Their success reflects their passion and commitment to producing exceptional work, and we couldn’t be prouder of their accomplishments," said Casey Maldonado, interim director of Lancer Media Group.
Lancer Media received more than 60 awards from the three organizations. Highlights include the following:
Baptist Communicators Association Student Awards
- Grand Prize: Interactive Communications, "The Banner Online"
- Grand Prize: Photography - Charissa Graves, "Helping Hands: Breaking ministry barriers through sign language"
College Media Association Pinnacle Awards
- Best Short Video/Entertainment: First Place - Nohemi Solorzano, "Lancers Noticias - Goki Café celebra la cultura mexicana"
- Design for the Yearbook Entertainment Page/Spread: First Place - Kassidy Blount, "CBU theater presents Frankenstein"
- Best Feature Photo: First Place - Lindsey Stumpf, “Electrifying adaptation of 'Frankenstein' takes the stage”
Associated Collegiate Press Pacemaker Awards
- Feature Story of the Year: Second Place – Natalie Tanaka, “From Hood to Hope: The story of Dr. Damon Horton”
- Feature Photo: Honorable Mention - Josselyn Guillen "Barra de Pan: A hidden local gem celebrates Mexican culture and cuisine"
- Broadcast News Story of the Year: Honorable Mention - Johari Jauregui “Invasive fruit flies cause crop quarantine in Riverside County”
- Yearbook Cover: Honorable Mention - Kassidy Blount and Evelyn Melgoza, "Glory"

Organizationally, "Pursuit Spring 2024," "The Banner’s Issue 2" and CBU TV were named Pacemaker Finalists.
