CBU arts and sciences field day

Riverside, Calif. (Oct. 12, 2023) — The College of Arts and Sciences at California Baptist University will hold its inaugural Arts and Sciences Field Day on Oct. 14.   

The event is aimed at engaging fourth through eighth grade students, although it is open to the whole family.  

“We want to positively engage with the community and get children and teens excited about the arts and sciences,” said Dr. Lisa Hernández, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.  

Each of the departments within the college will host various hands-on activities, including a viewing of the solar eclipse, which occurs on Oct. 14.  

Scheduled activities include: 

  • Solar eclipse viewing 9-10:30 a.m.
  • Scavenger hunt
  • Free books
  • Making mini news broadcasts
  • Ice cream election campaign – design a poster for a favorite flavor and vote while enjoying free ice cream
  • Planting succulents
  • Making pinwheels
  • Turning pennies into “gold”
