CBU student artwork shines at Riverside Festival of Lights
Riverside, Calif. (Dec. 16. 2019) – Students from the New Genre (ART 323) class at California Baptist University have an art piece, called “Equilibrium,” on display at the Festival of Lights in downtown Riverside. The piece is located outside the Riverside Art Museum until Dec. 31.
For the display, students weaved and formed wiring into the shape of snowballs and infused them with fairy lights.
Kristine Lippire, associate professor of visual arts, said the students were enthusiastic about their project.
“Teamwork and collaboration is a big part of this class. Every student in the class drew preliminary sketches and brainstormed ideas for the projects,” Lippire said.
Emma Limtiaco, a fine arts sophomore, said she learned a variety of new techniques in her class.
“You often underestimate how much material you need when creating large scale pieces, and I was able to practice visually balancing objects on the piece as it changed from just a sketch into a dimensional design,” Limtiaco said.
Skye Jimenez, a fine arts junior, enjoyed the hands on work the project required.
“It was very hard work, but it can also be very rewarding to see the projects completed in the end,” Jimenez said.
