CBU President out of hospital, continuing recovery at home after heart surgery
Riverside, Calif. (Nov. 17, 2020) – Ronald L. Ellis, Ph.D., president of California Baptist University, was discharged from a Riverside hospital November 16 and will continue recovering at home following heart surgery earlier this month.
Ellis underwent a successful cardiac double bypass procedure on November 6. Following surgery, he spent several days in intensive care before being moved to a private hospital room last week.
CBU First Lady Jane Dowden Ellis said her husband is resting comfortably and will continue recovering at home for the next several weeks.
Dr. Anthony Dockery, chair of the CBU Board of Trustees, said he was pleased to learn that President Ellis’s recovery is progressing normally. He said CBU is continuing to operate effectively under guidance from the University’s Executive Council, which includes seven vice presidents who serve with Ellis.
“The Board of Trustees continues to pray for Dr. Ellis during his recovery,” Dockery said. “In the meantime, we know that CBU is in good hands during his convalescence. We all look forward to welcoming him back to work once he receives clearance from his doctors.”
