CBU fiesta celebrates Hispanic Heritage month

Riverside, Calif. (Oct. 11, 2019) –The Community Life Longue was decorated with rich, vibrant colors as lively salsa music played in the background on Oct. 10. Hundreds of students mingled throughout the evening, enjoying tasty cultural treats in celebration of  Hispanic Heritage month.

Community Life at CBU hosted the Hispanic Heritage Fiesta that featured “The Grub” food truck that served a variety of Latin dining options such as sopes and bunuelos. The evening also featured a live salsa band.

Josh Daily, program coordinator of clubs and events, said the event was held to acknowledge and celebrate the Hispanic cultural traditions present on the CBU campus.

“Community Life’s hope through the Hispanic Heritage Fiesta to provide a multi-faceted learning opportunity, so CBU students can expect to gain a better appreciation and knowledge of Hispanic cuisine, music, dance, language and sports culture,” said Daily.

Josh Henderson, a sophomore in nursing, enjoyed the various foods and activities featured at the event.

“It really great to see all different types of representation for the variety of Hispanic cultures here on campus,” Henderson said.

Chelsea David, a business administration sophomore, said the event highlighted the Hispanic culture in a great way.

“This event really brings out the Hispanic culture through everything they did, it’s very authentic with the live music and food,” said David, who is Honduran. “It brings a little bit of home back to CBU it is fun, lively and I love it.”
