New CBU facilities welcome expected record enrollment as fall 2019 semester begins

Riverside, Calif. (Sept. 4, 2019)— Classes for the fall 2019 semester at California Baptist University began Sept. 3, capping an eventful semester launch that included Welcome Weekend and the traditional Clash ‘n’ Roll event.

This year, students can choose from more than 150 majors, minors and concentrations as well as more than 30 master’s degree and five doctoral programs. While final fall enrollment numbers are not yet available, CBU expects a new enrollment record that will eclipse the previous record of 10,486 set in the fall 2018 semester.

The fall 2019 semester also brings a number of new additions to campus facilities. The East Parking Structure opened in the summer in Lancer Plaza at the corner of Adams Street and Diana Avenue. The massive five-level structure features two elevator towers and more than 50 security cameras. It will provide more than 1,450 car stalls for the CBU community.

Along with the car park, 2019 also marked the opening of the new main entrance to CBU at Adams Street and Lancer Lane. Features include a new monument arch, signature campus fencing, expanded roadway and hardscape with outdoor seating areas. These elements combine to welcome visitors and guide them past award-winning facilities including the Recreation Center, Events Center and the Dennis and Carol Troesh Engineering Building into the academic core of the CBU campus

CBU also will be adding a new dining facility later in the semester. The new eatery, located in Lancer Plaza, will include Delect-a-Bowls, which features menu choices such as cereal, poke, ramen and salads, alongside Shake Smart, which offers grab and go items.

“This project and others currently in the planning stages all are designed to further enhance campus life and support continuing growth in the coming years,” said Dr. Ronald L. Ellis, who marks his 25th year as CBU president this fall.
