California Baptist University Announces M.S. In Communication Disorders Degree
RIVERSIDE (Dec. 12, 2013)—California Baptist University expects to launch a master of science in communication disorders degree beginning fall 2015. The program will allow graduates to apply for certification in speech language pathology, one of the fastest growing careers in health care today.
CBU's College of Allied Health (CAH) received notification of final approval for the program from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) on Dec. 10.
"We are very excited to have received final approval from WASC for the new master of science in communication disorders degree," said Dr. Chuck Sands, dean of the College of Allied Health. "This degree will train future speech/language pathologists who will be able to transform the lives of their patients through communication, and we look forward to the launch of this degree."
Sands said the next step will be to seek accreditation approval from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the national accrediting body. CAH is currently advertising for a program director and full-time faculty for the new master's program.
The undergraduate communication disorders program is the fastest growing major in the College of Allied Health.
