CBU's School of Behavioral Sciences hosts Dr. Kayla Fisher's lecture, Religious Beliefs vs. Mental Illness - Who decides?, part of the 2015-2016 Culture and Justice Lecture Series, on February 18, 2016 from 6pm-8pm in the School of Business building's Innovators Auditorium.
Dr. Kayla Fisher is physician who specializes in forensic psychiatry and practices in southern California. She holds a faculty appointment as Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California Riverside and serves as the Medical Director of Patton State Hospital, a forensic facility with approximately 1500 patients. A diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Fisher completed medical school and the University of Kansas and a psychiatry residency at Loma Linda University. She completed subspecialty training in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Southern California and a fellowship in forensic psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Fisher is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and is certified by the American Psychiatric Association in Psychiatric Administration and Management Dr. Fisher’s interest in the intersection of psychiatry and law led her to complete a Juris Doctorate. Dr. Fisher maintains a private forensic practice and has served as an expert witness in a variety of civil and criminal cases.
