Master of Science in Civil Engineering

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) considers a master's degree the basic preparation necessary for entry into professional civil engineering practice. The breadth and depth of technical knowledge relevant to a practicing civil engineer is continuously expanding. Sustainable infrastructure, protection of human health and welfare and protection of the environment are all necessary for any society. Cities, communities and rural areas globally face increasingly difficult infrastructure and environmental challenges. The MSCE program prepares students to design and implement appropriate and sustainable solutions to meet these challenges.

CBU's M.S. in Civil Engineering (MSCE) is designed for students who intend to become civil engineers, or those currently practicing in the field who desire additional knowledge and training needed to move forward in their career. Earning the MSCE degree adds a valuable credential and can make you more desirable to employers. Emphasis is given to application of principles and practices to solve real-world problems. Each student will conduct a multi-semester project, in collaboration with an industrial or academic client, demonstrating their skills and producing a useful and practical deliverable.

Students tailor their educational experience to their professional goals and may pursue concentrated study within the following civil engineering emphasis areas:

  • Environment
  • Water Resources
  • Structural
  • Transportation
  • Geotechnical
  • Construction

An emphasis in Engineering Sustainable Communities is also offered for students with a passion to serve the poor in underdeveloped areas globally.

California Baptist University (CBU) believes each person has been created for a purpose. The MSCE program strives to help students understand and engage this purpose by providing a Christ-centered education. Graduates are challenged to become individuals whose skills, integrity and sense of purpose glorify God and distinguish them in the workplace and in the world.
