The benefits program for California Baptist University is as follows up to 12/31/2010. All full-time faculty and staff are eligible for benefits the first day of the month following their date of hire.
Term Life Insurance: the University pays the entire premium amount for the employee at two times the annual rate of compensation. Also paid by the University will be $5,000 term life for spouse and $10,000 term life for each dependent child.
Medical Health Benefits: for any medical HMO or PPO chosen CBU pays a major portion of the employee only coverage. For those selecting PPO medical, the employee will “buy up”, or pay the difference between the HMO rate and PPO rate. Dependent coverage is the responsibility of the employee; it is available through payroll deduction, on a pre-tax basis. Current plans are Kaiser and HealthNet.
Dental: the University pays the Dental HMO employee premium; there are two options for dental, the HMO Dental and PPO Dental. All dependent coverage on Dental is the responsibility of the employee through payroll deduction, on a pre-tax basis. Current carrier is Delta Dental.
Vision: included in both Kaiser and HealthNet medical plans there is a Vision option that includes exams, lenses, and frames.
Long Term Disability: this program is paid for entirely by the University; employees are automatically enrolled on their date of hire.
Section 125-Reimbursement Plan: this program allows employees to authorize pre-tax payroll deductions for any or all of the following two categories to reduce gross earnings and obtain a reduced tax-withholding obligation:
- Childcare reimbursement for a licensed day-care provider.
- Medical reimbursements for those costs not covered by medical, dental or vision insurance.

Retirement Plan: The University offers two plans:
- 403(b) with GuideStone Financial Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention non-matching retirement plan.
- 403(b) with TIAA Cref non-matching retirement plan.
Voluntary supplemental benefit program: The University offers various non-contributory voluntary supplemental insurance plans:
- Accident Indemnity - Specified Health Event
- Disability Income Protection - Cancer Indemnity Plan
