CBU hosts many events and field trips throughout the year to connect international
students to the greater CBU community and to provide opportunities to experience life
in Southern California.
International Celebration Week is promoted by the U.S. Department of Education and
celebrated on college campuses all over the United States. We highlight multiple aspects
of culture throughout each day of the week through events that highlight music, food,
sports, and games.
Taste the Nations is our kick-off event each year where students have the opportunity
to try food from many different regions of the world, and hear about other ways CBU
is engaging in cultural awareness throughout the school year.
This high-energy event kicks off basketball season by introducing the men's and women's
basketball teams to hundreds of cheering students packed into the gym. School spirit
is raised with games and relays like the dunk contest and 3-point shootout, and free
food and prizes for the fans. You must wear your CBU Crazies T-shirt to get in the
door. Tickets sell out quickly.
Cultural Café is a once-a-month opportunity to highlight and experience a different
culture through food, music, games and art. Each month we partner with our international
students to provide an opportunity for them to show their culture to the CBU community.
This is a chance to experience something new and meet some great people in the process.
Interested in sports or want to try something new? Our rec sports teams include: basketball,
flag football, volleyball and soccer. Sports are a great way to connect with others
who have a similar interest and meet some new people.
Festival of Color is a night to celebrate Indian culture, one of our largest international
student population on campus. The evening starts with a bazaar where students can
bargain for food, henna, and chai. The bazaar is followed by student performances
representing traditional Indian style dancing. Finally we end with the Color Throw,
the highlight of the event.

We understand our students come from all different backgrounds and beliefs. International
Chapel (iChapel) is an opportunity to learn more about Christianity in a smaller,
discussion-based setting. As undergraduate students at CBU, you are required to attend
15 chapels in a semester and iChapel is a great way to meet this requirement.

Cultural Excursions occur several times a year and are a chance for students to experience
diverse cultures across California through food, art, historical sites, music, architecture
and lifestyle. In Oak Glen, students can participate in apple picking, a classic autumn
activity.

Diego, Yosemite National Park, Utah, and more.
Lunar New Year is an important holiday for many of our international students and
we want to celebrate alongside them! Millions of people around the world celebrate
Lunar New Year, and every year on campus we ring in this holiday with food, boba milk
tea, a photo booth with traditional East Asian clothing, and student and professional
performances.
