Master of Arts in Leadership and Adult Learning

Education and leadership are two sides of the same coin when it comes to enhancing the expertise of the existing workforce. At the same time, there are unique learning challenges and opportunities when teaching adults. This program recognizes that traditional instructional models are inadequate when it comes to teaching adults and developing their leadership potential.

This degree was specifically designed for faculty and staff serving in a variety of career and technical education fields at postsecondary institutions. This degree equips educators and staff in adult learning environments to optimize educational outcomes in and out of the classroom. Candidates will acquire advanced knowledge and skills to develop leadership capacities and maximize engagement and learning for adult students in a variety of settings.

Student Learning Outcomes

  • An advanced understanding of the trends, issues and best practices associated with higher education and teaching
  • Ability to implement a variety of leadership models to actively engage adults in leadership and professional development activities within a variety of organizational settings
  • Ability to implement a variety of adult-learning models
