Pre-Physical Therapy

Bachelor of Science in Pre-Physical Therapy

CBU’s Pre-Physical Therapy program is designed to prepare students for graduate training in the discipline of Physical Therapy. This major will expose students to basic scientific principles as well as foundational information in the study of human movement and rehabilitation.

Currently, there are no undergraduate programs on the West Coast offering a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Physical Therapy. There is a clear need for physical therapists in the U.S., and thus there is strong demand for pre-physical therapy training at the undergraduate level. Therefore, CBU has created this new program to address the growing need for competently trained physical therapists.

Pre-Physical Therapy Program Student Outcomes

Upon graduation from this program, the student will be able to:

Demonstrate understanding of research methodology and the scientific method.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the relationship between disease prevention and health promotion.
Display effective professional communication skills.
Demonstrate competence in applied statistical analysis.
Develop skills to collaborate and consult as a member of the healthcare team.
Gain basic clinical skills for optimum patient care.
Appropriately use and modify written, oral, and non-verbal communication with clients, families, and colleagues.
Enter into graduate level work in Physical Therapy
Consider the unique characteristics and values of the individuals and approach assessment and treatment in a culturally sensitive manner.
Think critically as demonstrated by participation in evidence-based practice and research.
