Office of Institutional Research, Planning, and Assessment (OIRPA)
Assessment at CBU focuses on determining whether or not, or to what extent, students are achieving program-level outcomes—Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs). The aim is to do the very best job possible in serving our students and promoting academic excellence. The OIRPA is responsible for overseeing and facilitating this vital process. Assessment is an essential, shared, professional responsibility at CBU and at all colleges and universities accredited by WASC. Additionally, it is a continuous process requiring perseverance and a long-term perspective. Merely doing assessment and collecting data (evidence) are insufficient. It is mandatory to do something with the data—decisions, program adjustments, improvements, etc. The key question is, “so what?”
