Barbara James
Occupation:  Registered Nurse
Hometown: London, England
Certification: Basic Life Support, BASI Pilates (pending)
Group Fitness Areas of Specialization: Pilates
Fitness Philosophy: As an active and healthy Mid-lifer, Pilates is the perfect way to strengthen, stretch, and increase flexibility of the core body muscles that are essential for a healthy spine, posture, neck and shoulders, arms, legs and general body strength.

I love to work with all ages and abilities of people (whatever their starting point) to give them a greater sense of connection to the body that they have, to help them to adapt realistic Pilates exercises to their regular exercise regime which will in turn strengthen whatever goal they may have for themselves fitness and health wise.

As a Nurse and Massage Practitioner I regularly see the general population suffering from some similar physical challenges which stem from a lack of core body strength, flexibility and regular effective stretching.

I love Pilates because it's perfect for the athlete and the non-athlete. It's the perfect exercise regime for the coordinated and the un-coordinated. It's the perfect exercise regime for people with handicaps and those with ambitious physical goals for themselves.

We'd love to have male/female, young/old, fit/unfit, confident/novice to come and join a class!
Favorite Scripture: Hebrews 12: 1-2
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Courtney Davis
Year: Junior
Hometown: Dana Point, CA
Certification: CPR, First Aid
Major: Behavioral Science
Group Fitness Areas of Specialization: Stretch, Strength and Conditioning
Fitness Philosophy: I have always been involved in sports and fitness throughout my life, so working out has constantly been part of my routine. However, college is where it gets more challenging to fit it into the crazy college kid schedule. I believe that making a workout fun and setting fitness goals, helps to keep you motivated to want to make it a priority to the college kid life. I found that Yoga, Pilates and Strength classes helped me stay fit, full of energy and excited to get to the gym.
Favorite Scripture: Psalm 18:2
"The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."

Fitness Philosophy:

I believe God gives us an opportunity to serve in different ways. To work in an environment where we can serve people by giving them the programs and services to help them live better lives and have a positive self-image is a privilege.

Favorite Scripture:

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

Psalm 46:10
