CBU is a university committed to the fulfillment of Christ's Great Commission. One of the practical ways CBU fulfills this objective is through serving the church. Specifically, CBU offers a wide range of services and benefits to Baptist churches and affiliated organizations nationwide designed to encourage their growth and maximize their effectiveness.
Musical Performances
CBU is home to the highly acclaimed Shelby and Ferne Collinsworth School of Music. Vocal and instrumental groups from the School of Music perform in hundreds of churches each year. A variety of group sizes and styles are available, including:
- The University Choir & Orchestra (150 members – requires seating capacity of 500+)
- Male Chorale (90 members) Women's Choirs (two groups – 90 members each)
- Chamber Singers (15 to 25 members)
- Concert Band (70 members)
- Jazz Band (30 members)
- String Ensemble (20 members)
- Bunnell Strings (five members)
- Small Vocal Ensembles (five groups of 6-10 members each)

Conference and Camp Services
Consider CBU when thinking about where to locate your next conference or summer camp event. Minister's Kin Scholarship
CBU offers a special $3,250 per year scholarship for students whose parent(s) is employed in a full-time ministerial position in an evangelical church or are a full-time employee with either a Baptist agency or missionary organization, such as the IMB or NAMB. Bachelor of Applied Theology (BAT) Program
The BAT degree is an intensely practical degree created to develop the next generation of church leaders. The BAT program is designed specifically for students who want to prepare for Christian ministry vocations. As a fully directed educational experience, the BAT program enables students to study with like-minded people and will afford students opportunity for highly-relevant ministry internships. California Baptist Archives and Historical Depository
CBU is the home of the California Southern Baptist Archives and Historical Depository. Researchers can find a wealth of information in this growing collection of convention photographs, annuals (for the Convention and Associations since the 1940s), newsletters and brochures, official convention files, church histories, denominational and general Baptist publications. CBU welcome the opportunity to provide similar archival services to Baptist conventions from other states.
